Diponegoro University. The Advisor Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd , M. Hum. The purpose of this research is analyze the rhetorical language style and its function of the short story Ojiisan no Ranpu. The data used in this research is the short story Ojiisan no Ranpu, published by Niimi Nankichi in the literature anthology in 1942. The theory used in this research is style of rhetorical theory by Gorys Keraf. This theory used to analyze the style of language of the short story Ojiisan no Ranpu. The second theory used in this research is function theory. This theory used to analy the function of style in this short story. Keywords : Ojiisan no Ranpu, style of language, rhetoric
