Gambaran Kualitas Hidup Orang Tua Anak Sindrom Down di Yayasan Persatuan Orang Tua Anak dengan Sindrom Down Jakarta

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a congenital disease that caused by abnormalities chromosome. The abnormality effects children get developmental disorder, growth disorder and health problems. This condition causes Down syndrome children have bigger dependence than other normal children on their parents as the caregiver. The impact of this dependence causes parents get stress, care burden and financial burden. The continuously condition will cause parents face the change of life quality. The aim of this research is to find out the parents’ life quality of Down Syndrome Children Illustration in Yayasan POTADS Jakarta. Descriptive method is used in this research with cross sectional approach. Consecutive sampling is used as the sampling technique with the number of sample is 158 respondents. The criteria of the respondents is inclusion of parents as the main caregiver by staying at the same house. WHOQOL-BREF is used as the research instrument to measure life quality. The result of this research shows the life quality average score physic domain (70,16), psychological domain (70,09), social domain (66,45), environment domain (66,52). Parents can improve social support by following POTADS activities such seminars and involve children to informal school for explore their potential.
