POTRET PENGGUNAAN BAHASA DI LINGKUNGAN PELAJAR SMA DAN SMK DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

This research is done because of the doubts of linguists towards the fade of Javaness as a first language. The fact shows that in their daily life, the students (especially the students of High Schols and Vacational Schools)in Yogyakarta tend to use Indonesian as their National Language compared with Javaness. The main problem of the research is “ How is the portrait of the use of Javaness on students of High Schools and Vacational Schools in Yogyakarta viewed from the use of Javaness levels. The data are verbal utterances used in daily life by the students. The Method to colect the data is observation using recording,intervew, and test. In analyzing the data , the researcher uses qualitative descriptive. The result of analysis shows that: (1) The students do not know Krama Inggil lexicons much. (2) The mastery of Javaness Krama lexicon is low. (3) The mastery of Javaness Ngoko leksicon is also low. 4) Many of the students do not know that there are some Javaness Krama lexicons which may not be used in a sentence where the subject is the speaker himself / herself.
