Abstract
Ajhemo means drinking herbal medicine, which is a healthy life behavior practiced by Madurese community from generation to generation. This ajhemo practice is part of localwisdom related to the traditional health system created by local genius of Madura. Up to the present ajhemo has been followed by generations of grandchildren in dealing withdisease and preventive treatment. The decades-old ajhemo habit is now facing challengesdue to the presence of manufactured medicines that indirectly shift the ajhemo habit to drug consumption. Therefore, ajhemo needs to be developed in accordance with modernlife by adopting scientific methods in order to produce standardized jhemo which hasmedicinal value.
