Abstract

Derivate product is produced from by product. Derivate product from sugar industry in Indonesia creates higher value added than sugar itself. However, most of sugar factory in Indonesia are not integrated sugar industry that apply zero waste system. Economical concern from derivate development urges studies to identify the most potential ones. Therefore this review was done to describe the most recommended derivates to be developed. Result showed that liquid waste (molasses) of sugar factory was the most potential source as feed for derivate industry to produce valuable product making zero waste industry. Investment of such industry is high and most of existing sugar factory had not established the integrated one yet. Therefore, derivate products selection should be done carefully. Besides, the government needs to cooperate with private sector in investment to achieve future sugar industry that integrated, high valued, and zero wasted .
