Abstract

Indonesia is a country which is rich of its natural tourism potentials such as mountains, seas, and forests all of which have potentials to be developed. These potentials are one of those assets for development and local resources income, one of them is in Semarang city. Even though this city is not known as a tourism city, in fact Semarang has some promising tourism objects for tourists such as Lawang Sewu, Umbul Sidomukti, Kotalama District, Ronggowarsito Museum and many others, and the one just launched is Maroon Mangrove Edupark in March 2016 which offers educational ecology tour even though it is managed by private sectors who are local farmer groups with simple management supported by IKAMaT institution and groups from Phapros Inc., Ltd. Thus, this research is aimed to formulate development strategy for Maroon Mangrove Edupark in Tugurejo district, Tugu sub-district, Semarang city. This research used Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method by using Expert Choice for Windows 11 version. The analysis was conducted to some proposed variables of development for Maroon Mangrove Edupark in Tugurejo district, Tugu sub-district, Semarang and the result was gained from interview and discussion with key people. The respondents were 40 people, consisted of 10 key people and 30 visitors/tourists. Then, after formulated some criterion and alternatives the respondents chose to do it by answering questionnaire. Those policy variables then divided into some aspects, they were infrastructure, economy, ecology, and promotion which consists of some alternative developments. The result of AHP analysis showed that from all variables from each aspect by respondents, key people chose suggestion from promotion aspect (0,337) which was expanding tourism promotion supported by related government, adding national and international’s Mangrove events with tourists along with manager, promoting by tour package visitors/tourists and website, respondents chose infrastructure aspect (0,283) which was to fix access to the tourism destination, to add photo spots, trekking, toilets, to add attraction objects (such as fishing,boating, short movie about Mangrove).
