MENGKAJI KEMBALI STATUS PREPOSISI /I/ SEBAGAI BENTUK DASAR DALAM BAHASA SUMBAWA DIALEK JEREWEH KAJIAN ITEM AND PROCESS

Abstract

This paper aims to re-discuss the status of preposition [i-] as the underlying form in Sumbawa Language Jereweh dialect. The data in this research were analyzed by using one of modeling morphology which is called Item and Process (IP) in Morphology Generative. The data used in this paper are taken from Mahsun (1999) in his paper titled Unique Preposition of Sumbawa Language Jereweh Dialect: Problem in Terminology. Besides, this data also obtained by using an offline dictionary of Sumbawa Language. Method applied to find out the status of preposition [i-] as the underlying form and the cause of its variation in Sumbawa Language is descriptive qualitative method. The result of the analysis shows that the underlying form is [ing-] instead of [i-] because of its environment; [ing-] has the widest environment than others and it has some representative or surface form which is called allomorph such as [im-], [in-], and [iny] as the variations of morpheme [ing-].
