Semarang. Thesis Advisor: Dr. Mudjahirin Thohir, M.A., and Fajrul Falah, S.Hum., M.Hum. The research aims to understand viewpoints of the member of Lantera foundation on Arkythirema novel which tells about the sophistication of technology in the past time and advantages taken from the novel. Sociological theory and literary reception theory are used to review this research. The sociological approach to literature focuses on the relationship between a literary work of Arkythirema and the readers (members of the Lantera Foundation) owned by Dicky Zainal Arifin. The theory of reception is the fundamental element of research as literary works are essentially written to be read or responded by the reader. The results show that the readers (members of the Lantera Foundation) believe in the truth of the contents of the novel that tell them about the technological sophistication of the past. They obtain some advantages from the novel including: feeling happier, wiser, smarter, more mature, more confident, more independent, braver, more passionate, and friendlier. Beside, the readers appreciate the literary works as an entertainment, a source of knowledge and can evoke the readers to be a researcher to prove the truth of the novel.
