The background of this study is the curiosity of the writer towards short poems in Instagram whether responded well among college students or not. This Study aims to express the interests and motives of college students to short poems in Instagram. The theories used are the theory of literary receptions with pragmatics approach; interests, motives, and benefits; and the theory of cyber literature. Meanwhile, this research uses quantitative methods with data analysis using descriptive statistics. The results of this research indicate that: (1) The interest of students in short poems is still low. The activity of reading and visiting an account of poetry at Instagram is not a priority. This means that the students read and visit the account only occasionally and in free time. (2) The motive of students in reading short poems in Instagram just to find entertainment and spend leisure time. (3) The benefits gained after reading short poems are being happier; if find a poem that matches the mood, can be screenshot because in general short poems published on Instagram in the form of pictures; the students also can appreciate the short poems by making their own poetry and sharing the poem to online media; to increase knowledge about literature; and can attract the attention of other netizens to participate in appreciating poems by reading or writing poetry. (4) The response of students to short poems are considered positive because commonly the students give the opinion that poems published in online media are interesting, having simple words, and about romance theme.
