Abstract

ABSTRACT Putri, Bella Saufika. “ANALISIS SEMANTIS IDIOM BAHASA JEPANG YANG MEMAKAI BAGIAN TUBUH PERUT”. Thesis Departement of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The advisor is Elizabeth I.H.A.N.R, S. S., M.Hum. This research observes the idiom which use lexem abdomen in Japanese language. it aims to define the relations between lexical meanings and idiomatical meanings of idioms that have the lexem abdomen. It also seeks to explain the changes meaning of lexem abdomen when used in an idiom in Japanese language and explain about meanings of abdomen for Japanese. The method of this research conducted by descriptive analysis. Analysis is carried out first by classifying the data based on changes of their meanings, and then define them by their lexical meanings and idiomatical meaning. The study concludes that (1) idioms which use lexem abdomen have five classification based on their idiomatical meanings, namely: based by feelings; based by the body,character, behavior; based by an act, movement, and action ;based by conditions, a degree, value; based by society,culture and life. (2) Abdomen is the most important part for Japanese, it is a symbol about their life as a center of soul and center of their emotions. keywords: idioms, abdomen, idioms translation.
