HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN TENTANG MENOPAUSE DENGAN TINGKAT KESIAPAN MENJELANG MENOPAUSE PADA IBU PREMENOPAUSE

Abstract

Menopause is the final stage of reproductive life in women. Women in this stage need physical, psychological and spiritual preparation to face menopause. One of the influencing factors is knowledge. This study aims to investigate the relationship between knowledge about menopause with the level of readiness towards menopause in premenopausal mother in Urban village Pedalangan Banyumanik. This study use a quantitative design with descriptive correlation and a cross sectional approach. A purposive sampling was used to recruit the sample with the amount number 285 respondents. The data were collected by using a modification questionnaire about knowledge of menopause and readiness which was adopted from previous study. The result indicated that 72.3% of premenopausal women had quite knowledge and 56.1% were ready to encounter menopause. The spearmen Rho correlation test obtained with p-value score 0.01 (p < 0.05) which indicated that there was a relationship between knowledge of menopause with the level of readiness towards menopause in premenopausal mother in Urban village Pedalangan Banyumanik. Based on the findings, the suggestion is premenopausal mothers should increase knowledge about reproductive health especially about menopause with media and health services approaching.
