Gambaran Pengetahuan Perawat Mengenai Catheter - Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) di RSUD H. Soewondo Kendal

Abstract

Catheter - Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) is the infection after catheter insertion affected by duration of catheterization, colonization ofthe drainage bag, diabetes mellitus, poor quality of catheter care, and inappropriate indications. CAUTI can affectsthe rate of morbidity, prolonged hospital lengths of stay, and leading cause of death. Knowledge is the important domain to lead attitudes. This study aimed to knowthe overview of nurses knowledge about Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI)in Soewondo Hospital.The present research described a quantitative descriptive study.A proporsionalrandom sampling was used to recruit the sample of 124 respondents. This study was performed using questionnaire with validity values rxy=0,444< r table = 0,37dancronbach’s alpha= 0,963. Data analysis using univariate analysis. The results showed that71% of nurses hadmoderate knowledge of CAUTI. There were nurses with moderate knowledge of definition (98,4%), risk factors (89,5%), sign and symptoms (77,4%), etiologic (72,6%), and preventions (59,7%). Conclusion : nurses in Soewondo Hospital had a moderate knowledge about CAUTI.The nurses need to improve their knowledge of infection prevention by attending training or seminars related to nosocomial infections and re-understanding the theory of infection prevention that has been given trough guidebook.
