Abstract

This research aimed to acknowledge the role of Education, Age, Marriage Status, number of dependents, and income margin to Indonesia’s labor decision to work to overseas (case study in Semarang City). The amount of labors in Semarang City that have not been accommodated by the available jobs opportunity in domestic specifically in Semarang City. The labors who are not accommodated in domestic (especially in Semarang City), allowed to find jobs outside their origin (domestic), if the job vacancy in domestic still not able to accommodate them, then the other alternatives is to find overseas job. Where the amount of Semarang’s labors who work overseas are not absorbed enough, whereas the chance to work overseas is still open widely. This research uses primary data through questionnaire with list of questions that have been prepared. Total population in this research are 115 respondents who are the representation of labors of Semarang City who are going back to work overseas on 1 January 2017 until 19 May 2017. This research uses statistic analysis tool that is Logit. Independent variables that used in this research are education, age, marriage status, number of dependents, and income margin. Whereas, the dependent variable is Semarang City’s labors decision to work overseas. Data analysis using regression (Logit model) shows variable that affect the labors decision to work overseas are Age, marriage status, number of dependents, and income margin.
