Gambaran Perilaku pencegahan ISPA Pada Balita di Desa Pengrajin Genteng dan Batu Bata Desa Kebak dan Desa Mertan Kelurahan Wirun Kecamatan Mojolaban Kabupaten Sukoharjo

Abstract

In the industrial area of tiles craftsmen there is air pollution in the form of smoke, dust; and also noise pollution that coming from the chimney of ground grinding machine, ash and the chimney during the tiles burning season. Pollution conditions that occur can cause URI (Upper Respiratory Tract Infection). Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URI) is one of the major public health’s problems in developing countries, especially in infants (0-11 months) and toddlers (1-4 years). The purpose of this research is to know the prevention behavior depiction of URI in toddlers in the village of bricks and tiles craftsman in Kebak and Mertan village, Wirun, Mojolaban, Sukoharjo. This research is a descriptive study with cross sectional study design using data sampling technique which is purposive sampling with the number of respondents 152 mothers who have children under five years old. The results of the research show that 37,5% of the respondents have a very good knowledge, 42,1% have a good knowledge, and 20,4% have a poor knowledge. Meanwhile the result on mother attitude, 50% have a very good prevention attitude and 50% have a good prevention attitude. Then the results on mother’s URI prevention behavior show us that 42.1% have an excellent prevention behavior, 30.9% have a good prevention behavior and 27% have a poor prevention behavior. It can be concluded that the prevention behavior of mother in toddler is good. The effort to improve the URI prevention in infants should be further investigated .
