The problem described in this paper is how the process of abbreviations in the food and beverage menu in Semarang City, how the morphology process (affixation, reduplication and composition) the complete form of abbreviations of food and beverage menu, how factors affect the emergence of abbreviations and the impact of the abbreviations phenomenon. Based on the problem, the purpose of this study is to describe the process of abbreviations for the food and beverage menu in Semarang City, the complete morphological process, the factors that influence the emergence of abbreviations and describe the impact of the abbreviations phenomenon. Data onto research include primary data and secondary data. The method used in this research covers several stages. The data collection is done by referring method, by repeatedly reading the list of food menu and lingual unit from the collection of photos contained in Instagram, then the interview stage with restaurant owner sources about the factors that influence the entrepreneur to make the menu list, then proceed with the technique of record, Ie not the form of abbreviations and the complete form of the menu. Data were reviewed and analyzed by basic techniques for direct elements. The presentation of the results of the analysis is done by presenting a typical verbal description of words. The results of this study indicate that the appearance of higher acronym pattern in food and beverage menu in Semarang City compared with abbreviation. The factors that affect the emergence of abbreviations are, facilitate the pronunciation and recording menu, catchy, simple, unique, and up-to-date. Besides the impact on abbreviations phenomenon that is, the emergence of abbreviations assumption as a new vocabulary, does not pay attention to the rules of Indonesian word formation, deviation of abbreviations causes change of meaning, and acronym become lexicon in Indonesian language.
