Not only in the Central Java but also in West java, especially in the regency of Sumedang, batik has been produced greatly to meet the demand of batik Kasumedangan. The Sumedang regency was the place where the Sundanese Kingdom ‘Sumedanglarang’first appeared. The regency of Sumedang is also known as a historical place where the King of Sumedanglarang and his people were fought against the colonialism, when the colonialism made the road for the mail from Anyer to Panarukan. The fought of the Sumedanglarang King are created in Sumedanglarang batik motifs. These motifs are the creation of the important signs of meaning during the battle, therefore the signs in Kasuedangan batik-motifs are interested to be observed. The data are taken from the icon in the kasumedangan batik motifs. The objectives of this research are to describe the relations between the signs in the kasumedangan batik motifs and to describe the meanings of the signs. The data are taken from batik kasumedangan motifs, especially the batik-motif of ‘Kujang Naga’ (dragon kujang). The theory is taken from the semantic theory of Barthes about interpretative semiotic. The results are that the signs in the batik-motif of Kujang Naga are related to the associative meanings of the Heroism and the wisdom that conducted by the Sumedanglarang King.
