GAMBARAN RESILIENSI KELUARGA PASIEN PENYAKIT GINJAL KRONIK YANG MENJALANI HEMODIALISIS DI KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

Hemodialysis therapy does not only give problems to the patient, but also affects the life of patient's family. The pressure faced by the family caused heavy stress. Therefore, family resilience was necessary.This study aimed to see the image of family resilience that included belief systems, the patterns of family organization and communication between family units under hemodialysis treatment for patients that happened in Semarang city. This research used phenomenology qualitative method with indepht interview. Informants in this study were family of hemodialysis patients who were selected by purposeful selection. The collected data were interview records and field notes which were analyzed by Colaizzi analysis method. This study identified 9 themes. There were the meaning of difficulty in family, the family's positive view of the future, the transcendent and spiritual influences in the face of difficulties, flexibility, family connections or cohesion, family and social resources, family clarity, disclosure of feelings or perceived emotions, and collaborative problem solving. Families were considered as a resilience if they were able to adapt and achieve balance in the family. Therefore, family resilience required the active role of each family member in providing care to patients. Nurse’s support was also required. They were expected to screen early and provide counseling to the patient's family.
