VALUASI EKONOMI TERHADAP PELESTARIAN DAN PENGEMBANGAN CANDI GEDONG SONGO KABUPATEN SEMARANG

Abstract

Candi Gedong Songo is one of the tourist destinations in Semarang Regency that has culture-based tourism. The quality of Gedong Songo Temple is decreasing due to the increase of human activities. It is proven with the environmental condition that has much garbage. As it becomes the pride of the major of Semarang Regency, Gedong Songo Temple needs to preserve and develop to improve the visitors at Candi Gedong Songo. In order to help the government preserving and developing Candi Gedong Songo, it is necessary for the visitors to pay the fee. The purposes of this research are: (1) to know the recent condition of Gedong Songo Temple; (2) to identify the efforts of reserving and developing the temple; (3) to know the visitors' perception; and (4) to estimate the visitors' willingness to pay by the Contingent Valuation Method. This research uses primary and secondary data. The primary data were taken from 105 visitors of Gedong Songo Temple using multi-stage sampling and bidding game method along with 10 key persons using purposive sampling. The secondary data were taken from Government Tourism Office of Semarang Regency, Cultural Preservation Hall of Central Java, and Forest Housing of Central Java. The result of this research shows that the condition of Gedong Songo Temple recently is good and it has potential to develop. The preservation and development plans are divided into 5 year short term and 15 year long term. The amount of the willingness to pay is approximately Rp19.876,73 and the total of WTP is Rp5.384.720.000,-. The final result of the average from the total WTP can be the point of settled retribution which is used to pay the preservation and development efforts of Gedong Songo Temple.
