Abstract
ABSTRACT Nindiariny, Sozya Twidara P. 2017. “Peranan Praurutan dalam Menentukan Strategi Kesantunan Tindak Tutur Direktif pada Drama Jepang Rich Man Poor Woman”. Thesis, department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The Advisor Maharani Patria Ratna, S.S M.Hum and Reny Wiyatasari, S.S M.Hum. The purpose of this study is to study the uses of pre sequences on determine the strategy of politeness in direct speech, especially at commanding and requesting which used by the characters in Rich Man Poor Woman drama. The data of this study are the characters speeches which can be categorized as directive speech acts in drama series Rich Man Poor Woman episode 1-12. Method of data analysis used is descriptive analysis. Data were analyzed by using theory from George Yule to analyce about the pre sequences and theory from Brown and Levinson used to analyze about the politeness strategy. Based from the results of study show that the most dominant presequences and politeness strategy used by the characters in drama series Rich Man Poor Woman episode 1-12 is simple pre sequences and bald on record strategy on commanding directive speeches, and simple pre sequences and negative politeness strategy on requesting directive speeches. This is because the speeches in the drama series Rich Man Poor Woman are mostly take place in office used by the chief executive officer of the company to employees, and the senior to junior.
