Abstract
Nursing is an honorable health profession. Based on International Council of Nursing (ICN), nurse should be healthy when doing the job. Nurse is not only work in the hospital but also work in many other workplaces. Working as a nurse will faces many risks that lead physical and psychological problems, for example work stress. Factors leading the work stress are organizational, individual, and environmental factor. The incidence of stress on nurses is high enough Tamkutonienė (2006) shows the stress levels nurses who work in primary health centre proved to be higher with nurses who work in hospitals The aim of this study is to describe nurses’ work stress level in Semarang Public Health Center. This is a descriptive non-experimental quantitative study using observation analysis. Data collection method using the workplace Stress scale to know the nurses’ stress level. This study involves 159 nurses as respondent. The conclusion of the study is 38,4% participant undergo low stress level, female-nurse have lower stress level (30.8%), ages between 31-40 years old undergo middle stress level (18.9%), education level of diploma 3 undergo lower stress level (26.4%), working duration between 11-15 years undergo lower stress level (13.8%), nurses’ undergo lower stress level (38.4%) and out clinic nurse undergo middle stress level (24.5%).
