Abstract
This research studied the fairing process effect on mechanical properties of plate joint of ship. The plate used in this research is marine steel plate, grade A of BKI, thickly 10 mm. By metalografi testing obtained the microstructure of plate joint are ferrite and pearlite. The hardness number of basemetal is 80.75 HRB, while the hardness number of weld is 76.75 HRB. From tensile test obtained fairing process have not significant effect, where the Yield Strength of plate joint is 347 N/mm2, the Tensile Strength is 347 N/ mm2, and the elongation is 24 %.
