Fahmi Al Muzaki An Overview of Community Knowledge About Basic Life Support At Cardiac Arrest in Tembalang Village Xiv + 72 pages + 7 tables + 2 images + 11 attachments Cardiac Arrest is an emergency condition that must be treated promptly from a trained medical officer or public. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 mentioned that cardiac arrest was still the number one of human killer in several countries by contributing 60% of all deaths. Knowledge of basic life support (BHD) is very important to be known and done by the society to save the lives of heart stop victims before the medical officers come. The purpose of this study was to identify a description of society knowledge about basic life support at cardiac arrest in Tembalang Village. This type of research was quantitative using descriptive design with survey approach. Sampling technique used was purposive sampling by using questionnaire with 402 respondents as a sample. Based on those results, the knowledge of society about basic life support showed good knowledge (43,2%). The results of the highest knowledge society is on a variable or item stop CPR as much as 281 people answer true (69.9%). The results and less in the form of the theory about the danger of self, environment and safe victim only 219 respondents who answered correctly (54.5%). Thus, it is recommended that the local Health Office need to provide an education and training for the society on Basic Life Support which will increase their knowledge and skills about basic life support at cardiac arrest.
