Abstract

The Regression in the elderly led to negative perceptions such as loss the spirit of life because of negative self-acceptance. It led to low self efficacy. Elderly easily felt inadequate and unconfident in his ability to show an adaptive behavior in his old age so as to affect the quality of his life. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self efficacy with the quality of life in elderly at the Rumah Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Pucang Gading Semarang. The research method used non-experimental quantitative method with correlational research design. The number of samples were 70 elderly who have met the inclusion criteria of the study. Data were collected using questionnaires that were GSE questionnaire for self efficacy and WHOQOL BREF for quality of life. Univariate analysis used descriptive statistical test to obtain the overview of self efficacy and life quality of elderly. Bivariate analysis used Spearman correlative statistic test to obtain relationship between self efficacy and elderly life quality. The results of this study showed that there was a strong relationship between self efficacy with the quality of life in elderly at Rumah Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Pucang Gading Semarang with p value <0,05 and correlation coefficient that is .643. The results of this study was expected to be used as a basis for nurses to improve self efficacy of elderly in providing comprehensive nursing care so that quality of life will increase.
