Abstract

Semarang city known as a city of transit to other areas of destination in Java and Bali. The number of tourists visiting the city of Semarang also relatively still low compared to other cities. Currently, culinary tourism is potential to be developed as one of the leading tourism. Culinary tourism is related with local food from tourist destination. Semarang has become tourism icon in Central Java especially in the food products. The diversity of ethnic and tribe in Semarang city produces variety of local food. Semarang’s local food has a unique characteristic, especially in terms of flavor. This study aims to know determinant factors that interests tourists to Semarang’s local food and behavioral image of tourists in culinary tourism based on age, gender, and marital status groups. Analysis methods in this research are factor analysis and descriptive statistics with crosstab. The result of this research indicates that variabels are grouped into four factors, namely internal motivation factor, external motivation factor, demographic factor, and psychology factor. The results of crosstab show that respondents based on age, gender, and marital status groups have different motivational and psychological levels.
