Abstract
The semantic structure types that refer to the addition operation in word problems for students of grade 1,2, and 3 consist of duplication, unification, and comparison. Those that refer to subtraction operation are trasfer, separation, and comparison. The ones that refer to multiplication operation cover duplication, multiples, and equalization. Those who refer to division operation are categorization, distribution, and equalization. Semantic structures that are hard for students to understand are the ones using words without antonym to refer to both addition and subtraction operation in one problem, like phrares “more than”, “less than”, and word “sum”
