PEMAHAMAN DAN PENGGUNAAN CANGKRIMAN OLEHMASYARAKAT JAWA SEKARANG

Abstract

Javanese communities in Yogyakarta Special District (DIY) still understand cangkriman, but their under-standing tends to go down. Active user generation of cangkriman (45 years old above) decrease naturally and the younger generation Javanese just understand cangkriman only through Javanese Language lesson in IV level on their Elementary School. After that, they will forget it. Contemporary Javanese communities in DIY use cangkriman more rarely. Only 46% of respondents still use cangkriman occasionally. The more they are urban, the more they unuse cangkriman. Preservation of cangkriman can be conducted through competitions, inserting it in formal and informal ceremonies and speeches, and playing it in communities programs.
