Abstract
Relative is the opposite of the absolute; it is not absolute and not changing. Language is relative because language never can be used to reveal something absolutely. Language only conveys something in facial and it is understood differently; giving differently in interpretation. Language relativity begins with cultural relativity, in which every single culture has their own way to express their message or purpose. The relationship among language, culture, and mind speakers are the basic form of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis in which it is the one of manifestation of language relativity. The main purpose of this research is to describe what the meaning and what kinds of metaphor which is used in Java’s keroncong based on Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. The result of this research shows that the meaning of Java’s keroncong as an image of middle-class of Javanese society at the moment.
