Abstract
Based on the number of speaker community, Hokkian language is the biggest Chinese dialect used in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the language shift occurring in Hokkian language found in Tea Pai ceremony, an essential integral part in Chinese wedding. Some deep interviews were used to explore the reason of bride and groom family in activating Bahasa Indonesia
