Abstract
When someone tells a word or says something, sometimes the person does not merely state something but also do something. If someone did that then formed speech acts are illocutionary acts. Illocutionary acts can be found not only in oral speech, but also in the propaganda campaign. Cagub pair-Cawagub usually incorporate promises in his campaign propaganda in order to attract the attention of voters. However, together with many officials or head of area did corruption, it caused societies’ belifing grew down. In the mid of competition for seats as a governor and vice governor, the couple Cagub-Cawagub of Central Java 2013-2018 period also use propaganda in his campaign. By that way, people will be more familiar with cagub-cawagu’s figure and did not hesitate to make a selection. The aim of this paper is to analyze the type of illocutionary act of propaganda Cagub-cawagub of Central Java period 2013-2018 by using illucutionary force indicating devices proposed by Searle. The analysis showed that none of the couples who used promised commissive illocutionary acts.
