Abstract
Kendal Brogue, in its function as a communication tool as the function of language in general, is a comprehensive introduction to the language in the interaction of the people of Kendal, both in the scope of public facilities (terminals, health centers), the means of government (village, district) and transaction (the market) and in family life. In addition, Kendal brogue is also used as a means of interacting in public places such as communications made between seller and buyer, both in stores and in traditional markets. This is apparent when the seller offers his goods to the buyer who uses the language dialect of Kendal in the interaction. Kendal communities feel familiar and familial when communicating with Kendal brogue in sales bargaining. Explanation of this resarch shows superior properties to the tribal people as a percentage of the questionnaire results that show the range of "high" (> 60%). The purity of tradition and culture will be retained in the domain of each in which is the form of brogue survival. It can be said that the retention situation is relatively stable in Kendal, for not showing the competition between local languages.
