Abstract
Code-mixing is the change of one language to another within the same utterance or in the same oral/written language. It relates to the speaker’s characteristic, as social background, level of education, and familiarity each other. There are two kinds of code-mixing; innercode-mixing and outer-code-mixing. Some of utterances in Solopos newspaper on rubric “Ah…Tenane” is expressed in two languages which combines both Indonesian and Javanese language. This research object is chosen in order to show that code-mixing does not only exist in the real word conversation but also in the conversation among the character in the rubric “Ah…Tenane”. Based on the analyzing of code-mixing in this rubric, the utterances forms are generally showed by the elements of Javanese language insertion such as word, phrase, and clause in Indonesian utterances. The purpose and the function of code-mixing which is used in these utterances are to indicate familiarity, to assist the conversation and to identify as a Javanese.
