Abstract

ABSTRACT Ghaisani,Shabrina Alifah. 2017. “The Personality of the Main Character Botchan, in Botchan by Natsume Soseki: Psychology Literature Studies.” Undergraduate thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang, Supervisor, Nur Hastuti, S.S, M.Hum. The main purpose of this thesis is the explain the structural aspects in the novel of Botchan and its main character’s personality. This research uses a novel tetled Botchan, as the object of the studies. The methodology that is used in this thesis is the libarary research to obtain. The data which will be able to enhane the research. Furthermore, the theories that support the research are the structural theories, the personality theories: cognitive functions and general attitude by Carl Gustave Jung and normal values. The result of the analysis shows the four functions of psychological types in Botchan, which are sensation, intuition, rational and emotional. The basic functions that are the most dominant in Botchan are sensing and emotional. The general type in Botchan in introversion. As this thesis has been analysed based on the cognitive functions, the most dominate general attitude is the introvert type.
