ABSTRACT Indriyani Selfi. 2017. "Personality of The Main Character Shinji in the Shiosai Novel by Yukio Mishima: A Study of Psychological Analytical". Thesis of Japanesse Literature Studies Program, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisor I Nur Hastuti, S.S, M. Hum. This research takes on the novel by Yukio Mishima entitled Shiosai . The theme of this thesis is the personality of the main character Shinji in the Shiosai novel by Yukio Mishima. The author's purpose is to analyze this novel to know the personality of the main character and what factors affect the personality of the main character. The method used by the authors in this study is a method called qualitative research with the approach of psychological literature. The approach of psychological literature is used because this research raises the question of the personality of the main character of the novel. The theory used in this research is the theory of personality depiction and psychoanalytic personality theory according to Carl Gustav Jung. The results of this study indicate that according to the theory of Carl Gustav Jung, the personality of the main character of the Shiosai novel based on the consciousness that can be seen from the soul functionality of Shinji type-sensed personality. While viewed from the attitude of the soul, Shinji has an introverted personality. Based on his unconsciousness, Shinji has a thoughtful and intuitive personality type.
