Abstract
This paper deals with the description of form and degree of changes of Sumbawan (BS) as spoken in Lombok. Methodologically, the data collection applied is interactive, observative and documentary method, and the data analysis involves intralingual equivalent method. The analysis on the level of language change makes use of quantitative approach using simple quantitative techniques. The analysis found that the BS changes in Lombok involves three types, (1) borrowed forms, which consists of two forms, taht is (a) total borrowing with no modifications, and (b) borrowing with modifications in accordance with phonological change in Sasak language; (2) Sasak lexicon which undergoes in accordance with the phonological changes in Sasak and (3) lexicon in the form of ‗baster‘. Viewed in terms of the level of changes, Sumbawan in Lombok indicates strong and moderate level of change, they are Karang Taliwang, Rempung, Rempung Gubuk, Jantuk Gubuk, Jantuk Gubuk, and Kembang Kerang with frequency of occurences of innovation evidences each comprises 60%, 62%, 63%, 60% and 58% while the chnges with medium category was found in Jantuk, Dasan Baru, Kuang Berora, Kuang Derek, and Siren each comprises 33%, 44%, 42%, 40%, and 34%.
