Abstract
Banana plants are useful plants is widespread throughout the country, including Indonesia. This plant many utilized as part of the fruit that has a large enough source of carbohydrate. Bananas are also used either in a state of raw, or cooked or processed in a different way in each area. One part of this plant other than the fruit that can be utilized, namely the banana stalks are rarely utilized turns in fiber and high cellulose content, so it can be used as an alternative raw material pulping. Pulping process with raw material banana skins in this study using the soda process, which releases banana stem fibers with sodium hydroxide solution by using a digester. This study aims to determine the effect of concentration cookers and cooking temperature on the quality of the pulp produced. The variables used in this study was 15% concentration cookers, cooking temperature 100oC and 110oC, long cooking 110 minutes and 120 minutes. The results were analyzed to obtain yield pulp and cellulose α levels. The results show the best pulp at 110oC cooking temperature and cooking time of 120 minutes at a yield of 17.00% and α cellulose content of 71.7%. Keywords: Pulp, banana bark, temperature cooking, soda process
