Abstract

Refractometer is an instrument used to measure the level / concentration of dissolved materials. Eg sugar, salt, protein. The working principle of a refractometer as the name suggests is utilizing the refraction of light, in which the material to be tested salinity dropped on blue prism and close the day light plate after the reading scale plate legible. The method used to analyze the content of Fe2+ is permanganometry, namely by way of titrated using KmnO4 solution and sample the atmosphere is made acidic by adding H2SO4 and titration temperature of 65 °C. Raw materials used in this lab is the well water with added District Tembalang H2SO4. Salinity and Fe2+ concentration is found in various water sources, namely the absence of color and odor in the water. In this study was observed three variables: the ratio of the time differences in sampling. Generate salinity levels 0 and Fe2+ 0.0112 mg / L. Things that affect the results of the lab is the contamination of KmnO4 by light, can lead to less rigorous determination of Fe2+ in the sample. Keywords: refractometer, permanganometry, water wells
