Abstract

ABSTRACT Budi Etika Mardikawati, 2017. “Symptoms of Schizophrenia of Main Character in Hiromasha Yonebayashi anime Omoide no Marnie”, Thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisor Yuliani Rahmah, S.Pd, M.Hum. The object of study in this research in the form of animated film with the title Omoide no Marnie directed by Hiromasha Yonebayashi. The method used to obtain the data using the library research. This thesis discusses the symptoms of schizophrenia experienced by main character in anime Omoide no Marnie. This research uses three theoris, the theory of characterization, the theory of psychoanalysis, and the theory of abnormal psychology especially schizophrenia. The results showed that the main character Anna has a character that is a loner, taciturn, shy, moody, grouch, crabby and jealous person. The conflicts that occur in the main character as the cause of symptoms of schizophrenia that is inner conflict Anna when invited to the festival, inner conflict Anna when she wanted to be a normal person, inner conflict Anna about the existence of the figure of Marnie, inner conflict Anna when figur of Marnie disappeared, and the last inner conflict Anna dissapointed with her adoptive parents. Symptoms of schizophrenia experienced by Anna is hallucinations, delusions, thought disorder, lack of motivation or apathy, blunt of the senses or feelings, and rarely talk.
