Abstract

ABSTRACT Tansil, Nia.2017. “Konflik Batin Tokoh Utama dalam Anime Tokyo Ghoul Karya Sui Ishida”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The first advisor, Dr. Redyanto Noor, M. Hum. The second advisor Nur Hastuti, S.S, M.Hum. This research discusses about Kaneki Ken’s personality conflict in Japanese anime’s Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida. Kaneki is an ordinary university’s student. One day, an accident happened to him when he’s on a date with a girl named Rize, which is a ghoul. After that accident happened, Kaneki had to have a transplantation from Rize. It turns out that Kaneki have a different way to live before the accident. He couldn’t eat normally like any normal humans. In the beginning of the story, Kaneki showed that he couldn’t accept the change. The writer thought that something that change a lot in a reality would affect someone’s personality even in a real life. The purpose of this research is to analyzing the problem about the conflict of personality from Kaneki Ken based on Tokyo Ghoul’s anime by Sui Ishida. The methods which used in this research are structural method and Sigmund Freud’s personality method. The result shows that in the end, Kaneki’s battling with his own conflict through a self-observation and most of his personality was influenced by his ego. Kaneki’s ego have a responsibility of defending Kaneki’s personality, also to make sure that everything’s in how it supposed to be, to synchronize the conflicts with reality, and to match between conflicts with one and another desire.
