Abstract

ABSTRACT Astuti, Fitri. 2017. “Critical Discourse Analysis on Tohoshinki’s Song Lyric: Wasurenaide and Kiss The Baby Sky”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities Diponegoro University. The first advisor Dr. M. Suryadi, M.Hum. Second advisor Maharani Patria Ratna, S.S., M.Hum. Music is one of tool used by musicians to introduce the culture of a country to the international society. Every musician make songs with various themes that appropriate to their interests and show the messages that they want to convey to the audience. Besides the messages, their ideologies and thoughts are reflected on their song. They are offsets the message which they want to convey in the song with social context in which the song develops. This research is aimed to find out the text analysis, the social cognition, the social context of Tohoshinki’s song titled Wasurenaide by Kim Jae Joong and Kiss The Baby Sky by Park Yoochun. Text (lyrics), social cognition and social context are analyzed using discourse analysis model Teun A. van Dijk. Based on the analysis was performed, it can be concluded that the choice of words used in Wasurenaide and Kiss The Baby Sky songs were cohesive and coherent, so that they support the general meaning of the songs.
