Abstract

ABSTRACT The title of this research is “The Inner Conflict of Character Arima Kousei in Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso (四月は君のうそ) Anime by A-1 Pictures in 2014”. This research background is based on the interest of the writer in character Arima Kousei in that anime which experienced various problems that lead to inner conflict. This research aims to answer the problem formulation namely revealing the inner conflict and conflict resolution which happens in character Arima Kouse in Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso anime. The method used in this research is psychoanalysis approach. This method is used to analyze id, ego and superego which lead to inner conflict of the character Arima Kousei. Besides, the writer also used analysis descriptive method to elaborate analysis result on formal object of the research. The results of this research are as follows : 1). The characteristic of Arima Kousei are : loving, responsible, passionate, humble, pessimistic, caring for others. 2.) The inner conflicts of Arima Kousei are : Kousei’s inner conflict in playing piano, Kousei’s inner conflict when he was visiting Kaori, Kousei’s inner conflict when he was treated badly by his mother. 3.) Kousei’s efforts to to resolve the inner conflicts he experienced such as diversion, fantasy and repression.
