Gambaran Pola Asuh Ibu Pada Anak Usia Sekolah Dasar dengan Retardasi Mental di SD LB Negeri Semarang

Abstract

Mental retardation is closely related to the family or parents. The role of mothers in caring for children with mental redartasi is important for a child's development. In Semarang, the number of children with mental retardation is around 636 children in 2012. This study aims to determine parenting adopted by mother of children with mental retardation of primary school age in Public Elementary School LB Semarang. This method research uses descriptive survey method. This type of research is quantitative. Sampling technique use consecutive sampling that involve 120 respondents. The research results show 74.2% of respondents is 26-35 years old, 65.8% of respondents graduated from Senior High School, and 79.2% of respondents worked. The research results also show 45% of respondents apply authoritative parenting, 31.7% of respondents apply authoritarian parenting and 23.3% of respondents apply permissive parenting. The research results show the majority of parents apply authoritative parenting. Expected role of nurses able to provide right parents parenting health education or counseling, so it can give positive impact for the development of children with mental retardation.
