Abstract
Cervical cancer is the most common cause of female death in the worldwide and in Indonesia. Chemotherapy is given to all stages of cervical cancer and it affect the physical and psychosocial aspects of the patients. Coping strategies are needed in order to respond to changes in patients with cervical cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between chemotherapy cycle and coping strategies in patients with cervical cancer at the Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta. The study design was descriptive correlative with cross sectional method. Sampling was taken with total sampling technique and data were collected through The Brief COPE questionnaire. The total sample in this study were 95 respondents. The result showed that there were 84% of respondents undergoing 1-6 cycle of chemotherapy and 57.9% of respondents using adaptive coping. Analysis with Chi square test showed that there was no relationship between chemotherapy cycle and coping strategies in patients with cervical cancer (P value : 0.18). Holistic nursing care performed by nurses can help cervical cancer patients to identify effective coping strategies which lead to positive and adaptable condition
