Abstract

ABSTRACT Aisyalun Hardzatillah, 2017. “Internal Conflict of Mom’s Character in Hosoda Mamoru’s anime Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki”, Thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd, M.Hum. The object of study in this research is an anime with the title Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki directed by Mamoru Hosoda. The method used to obtain the data using the library research. The theory supporting this research is the structural theory and conflict theory by Kurt Lewin. This thesis discusses the inner conflicts of mother’s character in anime Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki. The results showed that mother’s character have approaching-approaching conflict, avoidance-avoidance, and approach-avoidance conflict. approaching-approaching conflict happen when Hana deciding to give birth of Yuki without the help of a doctor or midwife, Consult with a doctor via telephone abaout Yuki, and when Hana decides to move to the village. Avoidance-avoidance conflict happen when she was confused to bring her husband's body to the house or let it be taken by a janitor when her husband died in a sewer and when Ame expressed his desire to become a wolf, and the approach-confident conflict happen when Yuki wants go to school and the mother attempts to earn money.
