Paradoksal Konteks Keluarga dan Sosial Dalam Pemaknaan Konten Televisi Kasus Pada Perempuan di Perumahan dan Perkampungan Kelurahan Tembalang-Semarang

Abstract

The"Suami-suami Takut Istri"(SSTI) is a broadcast television sitcom that overtly expose violence and harshness as joking materials for triggering audience laughter. In the manner, the SSTI involved a twisted gender concept by way of swapping male and female traits that were socially and culturally contructed. The research was basically qualitative and subjektivist in nature, therefore its findings is case specific and shoyld not generalized. Employing the reception analysis, this study was aimed touncover various interpretations of the sitcom among female viewers of middle-class residential and Kampong sttlement or Tembalang Semarang. The finding reveals that television program preferences social contexts, and different family's television consumption behavior affect the interpretation of televised text consumed.
