KECEMASAN BERTANDING DITINJAU DARI PERSEPSI TERHADAP GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN PELATIH (Studi pada Atlet Pencak Silat se-kota Semarang)

Abstract

This study aims to review the relationship between coach’leadership style and competitive anxiety. Coach’leadership style is perception athletes regarding the a leader or his trainer in develop the ability of athletes to maximize athlete’ performance. Competitive anxiety is psychological response to the state of that have not happened in a indicated by athletes in the form of symptoms physical, cognitive, and behavior before athletes play. The population were 271 athletes and subjects of the study were 78 pencak silat athlete in Walikota Cup 2015. This research use quota sampling. The instrument for the research were coach’leadership style scale with 25 valid item and competitive anxiety scale with 23 valid aitem. Simple regression analysis shown rxy= -.514 (p<.05). It means that there is a significant negative relationship between coach’leadership style and competitive anxiety of pencak silat’ athlete in Semarang. These result indicate that the more negative of perception of coach’leadership style, it is higher level of competitive anxiety. Coach’leadership style contribute effectively to the competitive anxiety of 26.4%, while 73.6% come from other factors that are not revealed in this study.
