Abstract

ABSTRACT Haemodialysis asa life long therapy gives a change in physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. Stress is an emotional and behavioral disorder that occurs due to an imbalance of self adjustment. During a period of stress, patient will look for support based on their faith namely spiritual coping. Aim of the research is to find out relation between spiritual coping and level of stress among chronic kidney disease patients with haemodialysis. The research method it was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The samples were 81 patients gained by purposive sampling technique and reseacher used the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnare and Spiritual coping ( Brief RCOPE) questionnare. In analyzing data used Chi- Square test. The result of the research shows that 54 patients (66,7%) conduct positive spiritual coping and with intermediate level of stress. Chi-Square test shows significant p value 0,019 (p < 0,05) it means that, there is significant relationship between spiritual coping and level of stress among chronic kidney disease with haemodialysis. Based on these results, for nurses it is expected that they will conduct counseling on spiritual coping, so they can control the patient’s stress and give the best nursing care for haemodialysis patients.
