GAMBARAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN IBU SAAT BALITA DIARE DI PUSKESMAS WILAYAH KECAMATAN SEMARANG TIMUR

Abstract

ABSTRACT Anxiety can occur to parents and especially in woman as mother because the anxiety can be affected by several factors, one of them is disease. Diarrhea in under five children risks severe dehydration which can lead to death.This can increase mother anxiety when toddler caught by diarrhea. The purpose of this study is to determine the anxiety level of the mother at diarrhea in under five children in Puskesmas of sub-distric Semarang Timur. In addition, researchers also studied mother’s anxiety levels based on their characteristics, such as age, education, employment and toddler characteristics such as age, gender and duration of the illness. Mother’s anxiety levels were measured with SRAS. The type of this research is quantitative with descriptive design and used questionnaire as an instrument. Sampling technique were used purposive sampling on 106 mothers whose babies caught by diarrhea. A total of 74.5% of respondents experiencing mild anxiety, 20.8% had moderate anxiety and 4.7% experienced severe anxiety. Based on this study, it is suggested that respondents may tell their feelings of anxiety to others such as family, friends, nurses and other health workers so that they can provide emotional support, social support and effective coping management so women remain strong when treating diarrhea in under five children.
