Abstract

ABSTRACT Nurul Hidayah Mother’s Knowledge on Giving First Aid Treatment to Febrile Seizure in Children in Kelurahan Ngaliyan Semarang xvii+81 pages+4 tables+2 figures+17 appendices Febrile seizure could be frightening for most parents especially mothers. Febrile seizure is considered safe if the symptoms less than 10 minutes, yet it could be an emergency situation under inappropriate first aid treatment. The study was aimed to describe mother’s knowledge on giving first aid treatment to febrile seizure in children in Kelurahan Ngaliyan Semarang. The study was a descriptive study with survey approach. The sample was based on non probability sampling technique named consecutive sampling involving 269 respondents. The research shows that 50,6% of respondents have adequate knowledge on giving first aid treatment to febrile seizure in children, 67% respondents have adequate knowledge in measuring body temperature, 61,3% have adequate knowledge in positioning and 55,4% respondents have adequate knowledge in maintaining the function of respiratory tract. The conclusion of the study is that most of mothers have adequate knowledge on giving first aid treatment to febrile seizure in children. Mothers are expected to apply their knowledge when their children are experiencing febrile seizure to avoid emergency situations.
