Abstract

Capital is essential for farmers to boosth their work. Limited capital sources and dearth of capital might hinder their productivity. In case of the condition, commercial bank is one major alternative to pursue intermediary service; therefore, farmers are able to loan capital. This study was conducted in Klopoduwur Village, Banjarejo, Blora, Central Java. Majority of farmers in Klopoduwur Village are lack of capital to go to field. However, farmers' awareness to request a loan is very low, even though their access to commercial bank is quite seamless. The aim of this study is to examine determinants of farmers' loan to commercial bank. Binary logistic regression is employed to examine variables of: income, level of education, wide of field, other properties, farmers' perception towards commericial bank, and intererst rate. The result showed that wide of filed, other properties, and farmers' perception towards commericial bank significantly affect farmers' preference to request loan to commercial bank. Furthermore, income, level of education, and interest rate do not directly affect farmers' preference to request loan to commercial bank. It was revealed that farmer's limited access to information regarding commercial bank and social condition have considerable influence on their decision to request loan.
