Abstract

Mental health is influenced by biological, pyschological, cultural, and enviromental factors. Students are one of the society groups who may be experiencing metnal health issues. Migrant students are quite vulnerable to mental health prombles caused by development transition experience. This study aims to determine the relationship between biological, physcological, cultural, and enviromental factors on first-year migrant students mental health. This study is non-experimental quantitative tend to correlational descriptive with cross sectional approach. Total sample was 90 first-year migrant students in Oceanography Department Diponegoro University originating from outside Semarang. Statistic results with chi-square test shows significant correlation between psychological condition to mental health (p value = 0.001; p value: < 0.05) and environmental condition to mental health (p value = 0.001; p value: < 0.05). While spearman rank test results shows there are no significant correlation between biological factor represented by respondents hospital sheet and family towards mental health (p value = 0.677; p value > 0.05) and cultural factor seen from ethnic group towards mental health (p value = 0,078; p value > 0,05). First-year migrant students expected to sought surrounding environment in order to bolster good mental health condition. Appropriate implementation used to assist solving problem that migrant students faced.
